YOUTH

WHAT IS THE YOUTH WING?

The Youth Wing was designed in the mid- 90s with the goal of inspiring young adults (18 - 35 years of age) to follow the teachings of Swami, continually practice the five human values, and embark on service projects frequently.

Swami organized the first World Youth Conference in July 1997 to further establish guidelines for the Youth Wing.

The vision for the Youth Wing is:

  • To help Young Adults learn and practice the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba

  • To encourage Young Adults to aim for excellence in their roles in family, work and society

  • To provide an opportunity for Young Adults to discover and use their talents in a productive way

  • To assist Young Adults to develop the ability to discriminate between right and wrong

  • To encourage Young Adults to actively practice the five human values

  • To inculcate in the Young Adults a sense of selfless service

  • To promote among the Youth, ideas of unity of faith, caste and creed and to discourage discrimination of any kind

"They should not be led into the paths of hypocrisy, deceit or greed. They must act the way they speak and speak theway they think. They should think good thoughts, speak good words and do good deeds. Whenever you go for service Swami will always be with you. Whatever happens I shall protect you. Whatever happens I shall protect you. Do not be carried away by profit and loss. Think of God ceaselessly."

During the month of April 2021, YA had the opportunity to organize a food-drive for Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam. With increased struggles for families to allocate funds aside during the covid crisis, we thought it would be a great opportunity to work together and provide items to families in need by donating to a local food drive - Daily Bread Food Bank. With the support from SSE students, youth and active members, we managed to raise $541 to purchasevegetarian, non-perishable food in bulk along with in-person food donations.
